Right at the end of July I had the pleasure of spending a week up at Baldface with one of Alpines excavators trenching out the site for the new Snowcat Maintenance Facility (Cat Shop/Barn). Upon my return from the coast, I returned to the Lodge to complete the excavation portion of the project. It's a fairly simple structure with a footprint of 56' x 26' with doors at both ends for drive through capability. The real whizzy feature that I'm most stoked on is that the in floor heat for the slab that will be heated by the waste heat generated by the (ahem) diesel generators that power the Lodge. The foundation and base walls have been poured with the slab scheduled to go on Tuesday the 2nd. Assuming, that is, that the snow that has been falling on and off for the past week will stay away long enough to allow the pour! That's right I said snow. It's even been sticking to the ground... MADNESS!
As you can imagine, we're all thrilled, especially those of us that occasionally have to crawl around underneath broken snowcats in the snow with frozen fingers. Heated floors, Bloody luxury!
UPDATE - Sept 10 - The slab is poured and the walls are going up!
